Markel renews IT landscape with Novulo and IG&H
Insurer Markel Insurance is renewing its IT landscape by switching to the Novulo insurance platform and Microsoft Dynamics. This integrated solution provides a solid basis for the entire chain — from customer interaction to policy and claims administration and portals. IG&H takes care of the full implementation and takes care of Markel both during and after the go-live. Thanks to this strategic collaboration, Markel will soon have a future-proof platform that suits today's organization and adapts to tomorrow's ambitions.
Markel renews IT landscape with Novulo and IG&H
IT that works like Markel works
Markel is making the switch because she wants to stay ahead in the market. In addition, they were looking for a solution that was better suited to business operations. The new solution combines Microsoft Dynamics CRM for the front and mid-office with Novulo's insurance platform for the entire back office — including policy administration, claims processing, accounting and archiving. Both platforms are seamlessly integrated, ensuring a uniform user experience and efficient process handling throughout the chain.
“We were up against limits in terms of connectivity, performance and flexibility,” says Sjanil Bansraj, Operations Director at Markel. “We now have a solution that is much better suited to the way we work and that grows with us. Thanks to Novulo's modern technology offered by IG&H, we have the freedom to add new features as needed, while professionally managing the platform at the same time.”
Fast implementation thanks to flexible set-up
Two years ago, Markel started an intensive benchmarking process to explore alternatives to the existing platform. After testing various solutions, the choice fell on Novulo, partly thanks to a successful proof of concept and a clear business case. Fully unburdening IG&H was also an important criterion. The implementation process started in January 2025; it is scheduled to go live in the summer of 2025.
“The speed and professionalism of IG&H with which this process has been set up are extraordinary,” says Bansraj. “The platform runs in the cloud, has strong connectivity and allows us to set up processes the way we want. That makes us more agile and less dependent on external parties.”
A platform that grows with you
Novulo's insurance platform helps Markel respond more quickly to changing market needs. The solution comes with a standard design that directly covers the functional basis and all core processes. Thanks to the composable design of the platform, this layout is easy to expand or adapt, so that Markel remains flexible and can quickly respond to new market opportunities or requirements.
“Markel shows that technology can really be a competitive advantage,” says Frank Wille, CEO of Novulo. “We do not provide a traditional software package, but a platform with a complete standard setup for all core processes, which, thanks to the composable setup, grows seamlessly with the customer's strategy. That agility is essential for insurers who want to remain relevant in a rapidly changing market.”
Complete care by IG&H
IG&H takes full responsibility for the project, the migration, the setup for Novulo, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and the portals. Thanks to unburdening after implementation, Markel benefits from automatic updates, scalability and continuous innovation, without worrying about development, management or maintenance. As a result, Markel can always count on a solution that moves with them, modern and up to date.
“Our strategic partnership with Markel is about more than just technology,” says Stephan de Jong, Director of Insurance at IG&H. “We ensure that Markel can fully focus on its services, while managing the platform in a future-oriented way, further developing and performing optimally.”
