MP innovates automotive with smart catalog

MP, a distributor of automotive materials that operates in the Netherlands, France and Belgium, is releasing a new digital catalog for wholesalers and their customers (garage companies) as part of the growth strategy. This year, MP opened a new warehouse in Staphorst, aimed at expanding in the northern Netherlands. With the MyShop, MP pioneered the digital catalog. Now, all experiences are bundled into a new catalog that will set the tone again in terms of ease of use (including on the phone), self-service and unique positioning for the free channel.

Chain optimization through digital catalogues

In the current secondary market for automotive materials, where consolidation is taking place and car manufacturers are increasingly attracting distribution, MP's initiative to release an all-in catalog is a special step. This clearly distinguishes MP from the trend in which manufacturers dominate the distribution chain. By introducing this innovative digital catalog, specifically aimed at the independent market, MP is taking an important step in strengthening its position.

This step is particularly innovative because it answers a number of critical market challenges. First, the digital catalog facilitates improved interaction with customers - wholesalers and garage companies. Thanks to a user-friendly interface, which also works optimally on mobile devices, the search, ordering and management of automotive materials is considerably simplified. This increases efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Control over your own data

Furthermore, the MP catalog integrates various systems, such as inventory management and financial software, when small and medium-sized wholesalers get access to the ERP package. When the wholesaler combines the catalog with a Novulo ERP, the entire chain is unburdened while each party remains fully in control of its own data.

With the renewal of the catalog, MP expects to intensify cooperation with wholesalers (wholesalers) and indirectly their customers (garage companies) and thus improve the market position. “With the switch to the Novulo platform, we make use of best practices and sector expertise but maintain our distinctive character,” says Jerome van den Bosch, director at MP. “Thanks to the chain integration that we facilitate, the administrative burden is reduced and we make better information more easily available.”

Automotive self-help portal

The MP electronic catalog was designed to differentiate from such a standard online catalog approach by gradually evolving into a fully self-service portal. This means that customers can not only search and order parts, but also view real-time inventory information. They can initiate return processing themselves, view detailed delivery information and work with graduated prices to their customers.

By giving customers more autonomy in managing orders, the user experience gets a boost. The seamless integration of various systems, such as inventory management and financial software, creates a streamlined process that scales efficiently without significant cost increases or complexity. In addition to this project, there are many other companies that are also investing in Novulo's automotive solution to take their organization's digital transformation to a higher level.

Intensified collaboration in digital transformation

In a market where consolidation plays a major role, MP takes a unique position by emphasizing more intensive cooperation with their customers by investing in chain integration. “This strategic move optimizes internal processes and strengthens cooperation within the chain without affecting the autonomy of parties,” says Frank Wille, founder of Novulo. “This approach sets MP apart from the trend where big players dominate the market by buying smaller companies.”

In the implementation, Novulo partner Growrs, as a business automation specialist, plays an important role in designing the catalog and realizing the various self-help facilities. The first phase, which focused on optimizing the catalog, has almost been completed. After MP's switch to the new Novulo Automotive Solution, affiliated wholesalers will also gradually switch to this new system. MP customers will also benefit from this transition, as they will have access to the Novulo application, resulting in a greatly improved logistical and administrative flow. The implementation will be completed in the middle of next year.
