Anker Insurance Company

Anker Insurance Company was looking for a way to modernize their operational processes and increase customer satisfaction. As a global player in marine insurance, legal assistance, and travel insurance, Anker needed a solution that was both flexible and future-proof. After disappointing experiences with traditional system providers such as ANVA, CCS, and DIAS, Anker chose Novulo’s insurance platform, which helped them take full control into their own hands. The result? A revolutionary transformation of their insurance processes and a significant improvement in their online service.

Limited by traditional systems

The company struggled with outdated technology that hindered innovation. Attempts to modernize with established system providers such as ANVA, DIAS, and CCS produced unsatisfactory results. “We felt like we were waiting in line rather than having a partner who actively supported our innovation plans,” says Joris Bos, Technical Director at Anker Insurance Company.

Self-sufficiency with Novulo

Anker Insurance Company switched to Novulo’s insurance platform with the goal of gaining full control over their own insurance processes. Novulo’s composable insurance platform, with an extensive library of proven insurance functionalities, provided the ideal solution. Two key factors influenced the choice for Novulo:

  • Full support of core processes – The Novulo Store contained ready-to-use functionalities for policy administration, renewals, and claims handling.
  • Advanced data integration – Novulo enables seamless connections with web portals, something that had previously been impossible within traditional systems such as ANVA, DIAS, and CCS.

During the transition project, the back office was optimized and all historical data successfully migrated. The flexibility of the Novulo platform allowed Anker Insurance Company to independently develop and customize components, fully aligned with their unique business processes.

From migration to optimization

The transition to Novulo began with a thorough process inventory. “You realize that you might not know your own processes as well as you thought,” says Bos. This led to significant process optimizations and the development of custom components for, among other things, absenteeism registration and post-calculations. The challenging export and migration of data from CCS Level was successfully completed thanks to the collaboration between Novulo partner Insurance Data and Anker Insurance Company’s internal project team.

The implementation was carried out in sprints, providing flexibility during the complex migration process. In October, the first version of the new product went live, followed by continuous improvements and performance updates. “The sentiment within the department is now very positive. Change is always difficult, but people eventually see all the added value,” says Bos.

First simulate, then migrate

The migration to Novulo was carefully prepared:

  • Analysis of primary processes – A pilot phase confirmed that Novulo’s standard functionalities aligned seamlessly with Anker’s needs, such as managing deductibles for crew insurance.
  • Gradual transition – An internal project team, guided by Novulo, led the migration. Standard components from the Novulo Store were deployed, and additional modules, such as absenteeism registration and post-calculation, were further developed.
  • Data migration from CCS Level – A critical component was the complex data migration from CCS Level. This was successfully executed by Insurance Data. With their experience in various source systems, the conversion tool can quickly and efficiently retrieve and align the necessary data, ensuring a smooth and controlled transition to Novulo.
  • Simulation – The migration tooling within the Novulo platform was used to simulate the entire process, with validation and verification steps providing full auditability for accountants and regulators.

Efficiency, innovation, and autonomy

The switch to Novulo brought Anker Insurance Company immediate benefits. The processing time for policies and claims was significantly accelerated, and the next step involved integrating the back office with the customer portal. This integration, directly available through the Novulo Store, increases customer self-sufficiency, resulting in a significant improvement in online service. Through self-service options, customers gain faster insight into their insurance, while the customer support team can focus on more complex inquiries. Thanks to the flexibility of the platform, Anker Insurance Company now independently develops the majority of their insurance functionalities, making them less dependent on traditional software providers.

Moreover, the migration of historical data and the successful go-live in record time demonstrated that even complex transformations can run smoothly with the right technology and partners. “We are now in full control of our innovation. This is an important milestone for us,” concludes Bos.

Conclusion

With the implementation of Novulo’s insurance platform, Anker Insurance Company has taken a revolutionary step toward digital autonomy and innovation. By taking full control of their processes, they have not only increased internal efficiency but also improved customer satisfaction. Anker proves that with the right technology and mindset, even the most established companies can transform into flexible and future-ready organizations.
